The Graduate Program in Materials Science at UFPI was approved by CAPES in 2010. The first group was composed of 10 students from different areas, such as Chemistry, Physics, Engineering and Dentistry. The program grew rapidly, with the number of places increasing to 20 in 2013. In 2014, an undergraduate course in Materials Science was created, which contributed to the increase in demand for the graduate program. The first class of the undergraduate course graduated in 2018. The program has a highly qualified faculty with experience in research and teaching in Materials Science and Engineering. The program also offers a modern research infrastructure, including state-of-the-art laboratories. The Graduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering at UFPI is an excellent option for students who wish to obtain advanced training in Materials Science and Engineering. The program provides a solid theoretical and practical background, and prepares students for a successful career in academia, industry or government. The program was evaluated by CAPES in 2022 and received a score of excellence, 6. This makes it one of the best evaluated postgraduate programs in Brazil.
