The Post-Graduation Program in Agronomy - Soils and Plant Nutrition is obtainable by the Federal University of Piauí in Campus Professora Cinobelina Elvas in Bom Jesus in Academic Master level. The justification for the creation of the Postgraduate course in Soils and Plant Nutrition aims to meet the demand for qualified professionals in the Post-Graduate level in the Mid-North region of Brazil to work in teaching and research. The Mid-North region of Brazil, especially in regard to piauiense cerrado is currently one of the last agricultural frontiers in the world, with strong expansion of grain crops using no scientifically proven technologies to the region. Furthermore, it's a region that has historically suffered various environmental impacts arising from misuse of land and other natural resources by farming, mining, etc., such as the large area under desertification and desertification process in the region of Gilbués-PI. Thus, the creation of a Master's degree in Agronomy - Soils and Plant Nutrition is very important in the formation of qualified professionals to meet the existing demand in both public and private companies, and generate scientific knowledge to tackling problems related to systems agricultural Mid-North region of Brazil. OBJECTIVE Qualifying professionals for research and education with knowledge in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition to work in educational institutions, research and agribusiness, especially in the Mid-North region of Brazil.
