This work reports the synthesis of Ag 3 PO 4 , Cu 3 (PO 4 ) 2 and a type II
heterostructure of Ag 3 PO 4 -Cu 3 (PO) 2 synthesized by coprecipitation method. X-ray
diffraction (XRD) showed that Ag 3 PO 4 has a centered body structure and a high
crystallinity, besides showing that the heterostructure was formed. The SEM analyses
showed that Ag 3 PO 4 does not present a defined morphology and Cu 3 (PO 4 ) 2 presented a
morphology in the form of leaves. For the heterostructures, the presence of the two
materials was observed. UV-Vis spectroscopy analyses indicate that a synergistic
interaction between Ag 3 PO 4 and Cu 3 (PO 4 ) 2 occurs when forming the heterostructure.
Photocatalytic activities performed at 150 min showed significant results for
degradation of the antibiotic Levofloxacin (Levo) using Ag 3 PO 4 , AgP-CuP 5% and AgP-
CuP 10% (100%, 90% and 98%, respectively). The catalytic cycle showed that AgP-CuP 10%
showed the best response over three cycles.
