This article presents an analysis of the directional and distance protection functions, based on incremental quantities, applied in the protection of transmission lines. These techniques have gained prominence in research and practical implementations, allowing time gain in fault elimination and enabling improvement in the stability margins of the electrical system. In evaluating the performance of these techniques, the software was used Alternative Transient Program(AtpDraw) to model the protection functions and the test system, where several simulations were performed in order to verify the response of these algorithms in the face of different scenarios. To complement the analysis, the algorithms were tested on two faults real, occurred in the referred transmission line.
