RESUMO:

Respiratory diseases are one of the most common causes of death in the world and this recent COVID-19 pandemic is a key example. Problems like infections, in general, affect many people and depending on the transmission form they can spread throughout the world and weaken thousands of people. These diseases have mild and severe forms in which patients severely affected need ventilatory support. The equipment that serves as a basis for operation of the mechanical ventilator is the air–oxygen blender, responsible for carrying out the air–oxygen mixture in the proper proportions ensuring constant supply. New Blender models are described in the literature along with applications of control techniques, such as Proportional, Integrative and Derivative (PID), Diffuse, and Adaptive, but it is difficult to find a blender with a remote monitoring solution. The proposed solution includes an IoT-based blender that communicates with a centralized monitoring solution, using an open-source set of tools, capable for receiving and processing data from several blenders throughout a hospital wing and presenting everything in a single platform, with all the necessary dashboards for patients monitoring. In addition, the system was proposed with modularity in mind. Then, it uses the Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) application protocol, an Application Programming Interface (API) and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format for messages exchange, enabling integration with other solutions and systems, as well as the development of new tools and functionalities.
