RESUMO:

As global food security becomes increasingly jeopardized by climate change, innovative technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and robotics are pivotal in advancing sustainable agricultural practices. This shift, often referred to as Smart Agriculture or the Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT), integrates advanced IoT technologies to optimize resource management, enhance crop yields, and minimize environmental impacts. Despite the promising advantages, deploying IoT networks in vast and inaccessible agricultural areas faces significant challenges, notably the energy constraints of IoT devices. This work addresses these challenges by proposing a novel approach that utilizes mobile robots equipped with wireless charging capabilities to extend the lifespan of IoT networks. Employing a Reinforcement Learning (RL) strategy, this work details the development of an efficient operational system for these robots, focusing on reducing energy consumption and labor costs while maximizing network efficiency. Preliminary results have shown that such strategy is highly viable, while future work will focus on furthering simulation accuracy and improving scalability.
