RESUMO:

 LbL films based on Polyaniline (PANI) have been extensively studied due to the versatility of

application that can be proposed for these systems. In this study, the doping of PANI was

carried from its interaction with microcrystalline cellulose chemically modified with the  

maleic anhydride grouping (Cel-AM). The maleic anhydride arouses interest for its ability to

form complexes with heavy metals. The materials of interest (PANI and Cel-AM) were

fixed together in the form of thin films through the technique Layer-by-layer on the ITO

substrate. For the films formation, the cellulose was dispersed in the solution at a

concentration of PANI 0.01 g mL-1, and parameters such as the number of layers deposited,

the doping process promoted by the Cel-AM on the PANI and the influence of pH of the

electrolytic environment employed were studied during the characterization steps of the

films. The films of PANI (Cel-AM) were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and

spectroscopy techniques in the visible ultraviolet region (UV-VIS) and in both cases, the

results showed that the presence of AM-Cel in the PANI solution promotes an increase in

conductivity of the polymer up to 6 times. This result was confirmed during the

measurements of UV-VIS by the appearance of the absorption band at 800 nm characteristic

of PANI in its emeraldine salt state.
